The west lane is being poured this morning, August 25th. The west lane will remain closed at the end of the concrete pour. New concrete pavement requires 7-10 days of cure time before any load, such as a vehicle, can be applied. Barricades and construction tape will be placed on the new concrete and removed once it has properly cured. Understand that curing is an essential step in the installation of concrete pavement. Placing a heavy load on the concrete prior to curing will reduce its quality and lifespan. If any individual is found driving on the uncured concrete, they will be responsible for the immediate removal and replacement of that section. Foot traffic is allowed on the new concrete the day after pouring is complete. Once the concrete is cured, the contractor will return to install the new concrete or asphalt aprons. An update will be sent out when the new aprons are open for use.
The roadway is continuing to cure and testing will occur on Monday, August 28th to determine if the curing process is completed. The contractor will pour the concrete driveway aprons on the west side once the lane has been re-opened for use. Any residents who requested asphalt driveway aprons on Howard and Harvey will be provided with access to their driveways with temporary stone until the subcontractor is on-site.
