August 28, 2018, 7:30 PM @ Fire Department Headquarters
Learn more about Western Springs' paid-on-call (POC) firefighting program. On average, POC firefighters work 12 hours per week; how much or little you work depends on your desire and availability.
Illinois law requires POC firefighters to be trained to nationally recognized firefighting standards. The first six to nine months as a recruit POC firefighter are dedicated solely to training. Recruit Academy courses will be held at the Western Springs Fire Department on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and on Saturdays each week. Training environment will be both classroom and hands-on practical skills application. Fire Academy is scheduled for January 8, 2019 – June 15, 2019.
Spouses/significant others are also encouraged to attend this meeting.
