Have you wondered what the Pickleball craze is all about? It’s one of the fastest growing sports in the USA! Pickleball is a paddleball sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball (similar to a Wiffle Ball) over a net. The Recreation Dept. offers pickleball clinics for beginners through advanced (indoor/outdoor in Summer, indoors for Fall and Winter/Spring), drop-in pickleball at the Rec Center where you pay as you go for Fall and Winter/Spring, and an annual pickleball tournament in the Fall. The Western Springs Park District offers 4 outdoor pickleball courts at Northeast Park, 114 W. 39th Street, Western Springs (near Odgen and Willow Springs Road).
