The Village of Western Springs, and its extended friend's and family's hearts go out to all of the people affected by Hurricane Harvey. Natural disasters such as a hurricane always take an unbelievable toll on the people, animals, and infrastructure within a community.
The Village would like to encourage those residents who are interested in donating to please do so. The following organizations are nationality recognized and accepting donations for the relief effort. The Village cannot endorse or vouch for any of the following organizations. The Federal Trade Commission does provide guidance for anyone looking to donate to a charity and advises to be aware of potential charity scams.
Several non-profit agencies do recommend that citizens consider donating money instead of goods. Due to closed roads and sometimes-inoperable public services, physical goods may not be able to be shipped or transported to the affected areas in a timely manner.
