The Village has recently been made aware of mis-information circulating on social media pertaining to the January 27, 2020 Board Meeting and the recent release of additional FOIA documentation.
Comments on social media stated that the Village Board refused to answer questions posed during the Public Comment session during the January 27, 2020 Board Meeting. The Village Board stated during the meeting that questions submitted during the Public Comment period will be answered in writing. Village Staff is currently preparing responses to the questions posed during the Board meeting and those answers will be made available on the Village website at wsprings.com/5G.
The Village’s Board’s report on 5G and the recent Planning and Zoning Committee meeting from January 24, 2020 can be viewed on the Board video at the 15:10 mark. President Gallagher’s outline on the Public Comment guidelines from the Board meeting can be viewed at the 27:30 mark.
In addition, comments on social media stating that the Village only released certain records (i.e., additional map images of neighboring communities) after communications to the Attorney General’s office appears to suggest that the Attorney General’s office was involved in the release of those records. Village Staff and the Village Attorney have received no communications or directives from the Attorney General’s office regarding any of the FOIA requests it has received relative to 5G / small cell matters. The additional maps and images were voluntarily released on January 29, 2020 as part of a supplemental FOIA request to the original FOIA request submitted on December 19, 2019. The Village has made available for download the original FOIA response documents dated 12/20/19 and the supplemental response documents dated 01/07/19, 01/27/20 and 01/29/20.
