[ARCHIVED] WSPD Scam Alert

WSPD has been made aware of a scam circulating in the Village involving callers posing as Nicor employees.

These individuals allege that work needs to be completed on a meter inside the residence. Nicor does not do this work without providing written notice. If anyone arrives at your door claiming that they are with a utility company and you are unaware of work required in your home, contact the utility company using an official number provided on the website or via written correspondence to confirm the employee is legitimate. All utility employees should also have identification. If you are uncomfortable or unsure about a subject at your residence, dial 911 for police assistance.
