The BNSF railroad bridge project has moved into the next phase, and all trains are now operating on the shoo-fly structure. Demolition work to remove the existing bridge will begin as early as October 26. Work is anticipated to take place both during the day and at night, with the potential for additional work on weekends.
Pile driving for the new bridge will follow after Thanksgiving, and may also occur in the overnight hours due to necessary lane closures to ensure both worker and motorist safety. Work involving concrete breaking and pile driving is anticipated to take several weeks.
The Tollway acknowledges that this work may concern residents, and will work with the contractors to minimize night operations when possible. Residents near the area a letter will be sent a letter informing of them of the upcoming work in advance of construction activity, that will provide a point of contact for questions or concerns. This letter will also be shared to the Village website.
The Tollway is still working to confirm the details for the upcoming work, and will share more information when it becomes available.
