The pouring of the west lane of Clausen Avenue was completed this afternoon. The concrete roadway is currently curing and will continue to do so for 7-10 days before vehicular traffic can utilize it. Driving on the roadway before it reaches proper cure time can cause future cracking and failure of the pavement. Any individual found driving on the new pavement before it is open will be responsible for the replacement of the pavement. Please also make sure all delivery services (ex. UberEats, Grubhub, furniture, etc.) are aware that all traffic should travel one-way, southbound, on the east lane. Another update will be sent out once the roadway has been re-opened for public use.

**Construction of the Clausen Avenue Roadway and Water Main Improvements project for the Village of Western Springs was financed by the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (SRF). The SRF program is administered by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and receives a portion of its money to fund these types of projects from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This project included the installation of approximately 1,600 lineal feet of 8-inch diameter water main from Clausen Avenue – Hillgrove Avenue to 41st Street. Once complete, it will improve water system reliability for area residents and businesses in the Village of Western Springs by reducing main breaks. SRF programs operate in each state to provide communities the resources necessary to build, maintain, and improve the infrastructure that protects one of our most valuable resources: water.**
