**Update: This work has been delayed until Tuesday, May 2 due to weather.**
On the morning of Monday, May 1, 47th Street at Fair Elms will be reduced down to one lane as part of the Central Avenue project, which includes the replacement of a sanitary sewer that runs under 47th Street. Traffic will be controlled by the contractor with additional traffic control devices and multiple flaggers. Please plan an alternate route on Monday morning to avoid delays. By mid-day it is expected that one lane will be open in each direction.
After sewer installation is complete, steel plates will temporarily be used to cover the sewer trenches (with “bump” signs posted). The plates will be removed with final pavement restoration anticipated by the third week of May The pavement patching work will also likely reduce traffic to one lane in each direction. Please use caution in the area while work is taking place.
