[ARCHIVED] Reminder: Well #3 Offline for Maintenance - Water Quality May Change

This is a reminder for all residents that well #3 is currently offline for maintenance through the end of October and into November.

The Village is currently undergoing maintenance of well #3 in our water production system. While this well is offline we need to supplement our distribution system from well #4 with well #1, which is a shallow well. The water quality from well #1 is good and does meet all IEPA drinking standards, but it does have a high amount of iron and other dissolved solids in it. Some residents may experience discoloration, especially from their hot water tap as a result of our need to utilize well #1 during this time.

The discoloration is a result of the iron from the well. Unfortunately since the weather has been so warm and dry, demand in the distribution system is higher than average and the Village has had to supplement more water with well #1 to meet system demand.

The Village posted an announcement in the most recent tower topics and has been posting status updates on the Village website regarding this project. It is recommended that residents please sign up for Village email/text notifications to receive the most up to date news on the progress of the well work.
