Effective immediately the Village is requiring that all residents conserve water and refrain from sprinkling and irrigation of lawns and gardens and other non-essential water uses until the completion of the maintenance on the primary well, which is anticipated for the first week of November. The Village intends to enforce water conservation throughout the Village during this period.
This effort is being made in response to the the water quality issues that residents have experienced over the past week due to the use of the Village's shallow well. The maintenance of the VIllage's deep well has required the Village to supplement the water supply. The water from this well contains increased amounts of hardness, and iron. Work on the Village’s primary well was scheduled to take place in October in anticipation of cooler weather resulting in lower system demand. Due to warmer and dryer than anticipated conditions this month the Village has had to utilize the shallow well more than anticipated. While the water remains safe and in compliance with all state and federal regulations the overall appearance has been below the customary standard.
In order to bring down demand in the distribution system to allow less use of the shallow well, the VIllage is implementing measures to restrict non-essential uses to improve the overall water quality in the community. The Village encourages residents to please be conscientious and communicate with their neighbors to bring awareness of these conservation efforts in order to improve the overall water quality within the community.
The utilization of irrigation systems and other non-essential water uses is prohibited effective immediately.
