The Western Springs Recreation Department has a variety of early education classes that are available for the community. Session 6 classes are starting soon, and there is still room for you or your children to enjoy many different classes that run from October 31st – December 17th.
Our highly popular class, Little Authors, is available for your 4 year old-kindergartner. Your child will “write” their own book complete with illustrations. A teacher will work one on one with your child as they dictate their story. Children love the fun that comes with becoming an author. There is even a “reading” as we share their completed works!
Other outstanding classes for that age range include: Science for Sillies, A-2-Z, and Masterpieces for Munchkins. Our Science for Sillies class will use fun experiments and creative projects to introduce your future scientist to math and science concepts A-2-Z will teach consonant and vowel sounds, number sequencing, word families, and much more with fun in class and take home projects each week. While the always enjoyable Masterpieces for Munchkins will allow your child to try their hand at a new style or technique of art each week.
Does your 3 year old - kindergartner year old love to cook, love doing crafts, or just love a creative fun environment? Wee Gourmets will teach your child all the fun of creating something delicious in the kitchen. If your child loves art, our Craft and Cooking Creations will offer a longer class, which will also incorporate circle time and a craft with the fun treat they cook. Imagination Station is the perfect class for that preschooler who loves to use their creativity and imagination through art, music, play, and song.
