Western Springs Public Works will be conducting a water valve replacement on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2016. A temporary water shutoff will be required from approximately 9:30 a.m. until approximately 2:00 p.m., weather permitting, for the repair.
A valve is a mechanical device that blocks flow in a pipe in order for sections of the Village's distribution system to be isolated for repair processes. The current valve needing replacement is broken. To conduct the repair public works crews need to close valves further up in the distribution system to isolate the area for repair. The isolation of these additional valves is the cause of the water shutoff in the extended distribution area.
After the water has been turned on, residents may notice discoloration due to disturbed sediment from the repair. If you experience discoloration, run the cold water from a fixture that is located in the lowest level of the house until the water runs clear. Avoid doing laundry or using the dishwasher until the water runs clear.
The attached noticed was placed on the front door of each home along Central Avenue.
