[ARCHIVED] Recreation Offering New Pickleball Clinic

Looking to learn pickleball or advance your skills? Join the pickleball craze! It’s a sport that’s easy for beginners to learn but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players. Pickle Ball is played with a paddle and a plastic ball in the style of tennis with some ping pong and badminton mixed in. Great exercise and a fun game! 

Some basic skills that are covered in the clinic include: Posture, Ready Position, Grip/ Paddle angle, Comfort zone, Dinks, Footwork for dinks, Push it Forward, Keep it Low, Scoring, 2 bounce rule, Forehand and backhand shots, 3rd shot drop, Lobs, Overheads, Court Positioning, Serve and Return of Serve.

The instructor, Jose Sosa, is a retired physical education teacher of 34 years. He has 17 years of experience teaching pickleball.


When:  Fridays, March 10-April 7, 12:00-1:00pm

Where:  Western Springs Recreation Gym

Fee:  $50 for Residents; $60 for Non-residents (maximum of 8 players)
