Nicor will begin restoration work for Old Town North and other portions of the community that received gas service upgrades during the fall of 2016. Restoration is expected to continue through May.
Restoration work in the parkway will include sod where appropriate and seed mats in locations of low sunlight, or high foot traffic. Nicor’s landscapers will water sod for two weeks after installation, after which point the Village asks residents to please continue watering.
Restoration of street and sidewalk patches will also occur during this time period. Restoration in the Central Business District may occur prior to 7:00 am to minimize conflicts with the downtown businesses. Nicor will notify businesses where restoration is to take place.

Wolf Rd Services
There are approximately 19 new services to run between 47th St and Maple Ave. Nicor is awaiting the County to issue a permit for the County Right of Way. Once work begins excavations will occur over the main on the West side of Wolf Rd to connect the new gas services to the gas main. There will also be smaller excavations on the East side of Wolf Rd to expose existing utilities in the right of way. Once a permit is received, there should be approximately 2-3 weeks of work to install new services and cross-tie the meters associated with those services. When this work is completed, landscaping and pavement restoration will be scheduled.
Retirements
Once the service installations and meter cross-ties have been completed in Old Town, work will begin to retire the old gas main that was replaced. At various spots throughout the scope of the project there will be excavations to expose and retire the old main. Assuming good weather and ground conditions, this work should take approximately 3-4 weeks. When this work is completed, landscaping and pavement restoration will be scheduled.
