How often should I change my smoke detector and my carbon monoxide detector?

On the back of your smoke detector and CO detector there should be an expiration date or a manufactured date. Companies suggest changing the detectors every 7 to 10 years. During those years the companies suggest to change your battery every 6 months. Be sure to test your detector system once a month to make sure things are working properly. The US Fire Administration provides more information about how to maintain your smoke detector: https://www.usfa.fema.gov/prevention/outreach/smoke_alarms.html
